How the PUB Viewer Works

View any Microsoft Publisher file in 3 simple steps — uploaded, converted, and auto-deleted

01
Upload Your PUB File

Drag & drop your .pub file or click to browse. No account, no sign-in needed. Files up to 50 MB accepted.

02
Converted by LO Draw

Your PUB file is uploaded to our secure server where LibreOffice Draw converts it to PDF. The same engine used by Aspose and filehelper.com.

03
View, Zoom & Export

Browse your converted document page by page. Zoom in/out, download as PDF, or print — all in your browser.

Enterprise-Grade PUB Conversion

Powered by LibreOffice Draw — the gold standard for server-side document conversion

Maximum Layout Fidelity

LibreOffice Draw renders PUB files with unmatched accuracy — text, images, shapes, WMF fills, and fonts are all preserved. Matches the output of Aspose and products.aspose.app.

Works On All Devices

Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android — any modern browser. No app download, no extension to install, no account to create. Publisher itself isn't available on Mac or mobile — we fill that gap.

Powered by LibreOffice

We use LibreOffice Draw (v24.2.7) server-side — the most widely deployed open-source document converter. It uses libmspub to parse Publisher files from 1998 through 2021 with full OLE/CFB support.

Publisher Retirement Ready

Microsoft is retiring Publisher in October 2026. After that, there will be no official way to view .pub files. Our tool ensures you can always access your legacy Publisher documents.

Export to PDF

Your PUB file is converted to PDF server-side and rendered in your browser. Download the PDF directly, or print to save a copy. Perfect for archiving or sharing.

Private & Auto-Deleted

Your file is processed on our secure server and automatically deleted within 30 minutes. We don't log, store, or share your documents. Your Publisher files remain confidential.

Microsoft Publisher Is Being Retired (October 2026)

Microsoft announced that Publisher will be removed from Microsoft 365 and will no longer be supported after October 2026. This means millions of .pub files created over the past 30 years will no longer have an official reader. Our goal is to provide a permanent, free, and private way to view these documents — no subscription, no proprietary software. If you have legacy Publisher documents, convert them to PDF while our tool remains free.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about PUB files and our viewer

Yes! You have several options: (1) Our PUB Viewer — converts .pub to PDF via LibreOffice Draw, no installation needed. (2) LibreOffice Draw — free, open-source desktop app, can open and edit PUB files. (3) Google Drive — upload a .pub file and Google will convert it to its native format for viewing. (4) CloudConvert, Zamzar — online conversion services. Microsoft Publisher itself requires a paid Microsoft 365 subscription and is being retired in October 2026.
Yes. Microsoft announced that Publisher will be retired in October 2026. After this date, Publisher will no longer be included in Microsoft 365 subscriptions, and existing installations will not receive security updates or support. Microsoft recommends migrating to other tools like Canva or Microsoft Designer. This is why having a reliable, independent PUB file viewer is essential for accessing your legacy documents.
When you upload a .pub file, it is sent to our secure server running LibreOffice Draw 24.2. LO Draw uses the open-source libmspub library to parse the OLE/CFB structure, extract all content (text, images, shapes, WMF fills), and produce a PDF document. The conversion runs with a thread lock to prevent resource contention. Your original file and the generated PDF are automatically deleted after 30 minutes.
Simply upload your .pub file and click "View PUB File". Our server converts it to PDF using LibreOffice Draw. Once converted, click the "PDF" button in the toolbar to download the PDF directly to your computer. You can also click "Print" and choose "Save as PDF" from the print dialog. The conversion preserves all text, images, shapes, and layout.
Yes. Your file is uploaded securely to our server, converted, and the PDF is returned. Both your original PUB file and the generated PDF are automatically deleted within 30 minutes. We do not store, log, share, or analyze your files. PUB files often contain sensitive business documents — that's why we built automatic cleanup into the system. For maximum privacy, files are processed in ephemeral storage (RAM disk).
LibreOffice Draw, via libmspub, supports Publisher 98 through Publisher 2021. This includes all major versions: Publisher 2000, 2002/XP, 2003, 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019, and Publisher for Microsoft 365. Support for each version depends on how much the file format changed — later versions are generally well supported. If you encounter a file that doesn't convert, please let us know.
Microsoft Publisher has never been available on macOS. To open a .pub file on Mac: (1) Use our online PUB Viewer — works in Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. (2) Install LibreOffice Draw for Mac (free). (3) Upload to Google Drive and view via Google's conversion. (4) Ask the sender to export as PDF instead. Our viewer is the quickest option — no installation at all.
The PUB Viewer supports files up to 50 MB. Very large files with many pages or high-resolution images may take longer to convert. Our server enforces a 60-second conversion timeout. For best performance, we recommend files under 25 MB. Files are processed with a single-threaded lock to ensure consistent quality and avoid server overload.
